Ja Morant is one of the most exciting young players in the NBA, but he may have gone too far with his latest celebration. The Memphis Grizzlies star, who recently returned from a suspension for flashing guns on social media, did a gun celebration after a dagger dunk against the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night, which made it seem like a case of Deja Vu.
The game was in overtime, and the Grizzlies were leading 113-109 with about 20 seconds left. Marcus Smart threw an alley-oop to Morant, who slammed it home with authority. Then, Morant did a gun celebration by pretending to shoot two guns in the air while dancing.
Some fans were not amused by Morant’s gesture, especially since he was just suspended for posting a video of himself holding a real gun. They think that Morant should stay away from doing gun celebrations during games, because it could be interpreted by some people as him not learning from his past mistake.
Others defended Morant, saying that he was just having fun and expressing himself. They argue that Morant’s gun celebration was harmless and did not hurt anyone. They also point out that other players have done similar celebrations in the past, such as Lebron James and Mikal Bridges.

Lebron did the coldest gun celebration of all time that still hasn’t been topped in terms of attention to detail and style. The NBA was much less sensitive back then though. If Lebron can do it, why can’t Morant? That’s the question some people ask.
What do you think of Morant’s gun celebration? Was it too soon Deja vu, or was it no big deal? There’s no doubt this will be one of the biggest topics on conversation on NBA twitter.
