Social Media Criticizes NYC Mayor Eric Adams After Nets Fined $50K for Letting Kyrie Irving Enter Locker Room
When Kyrie Irving entered Barclays arena for Nets matchup against the Knicks, he wasn’t wearing his usual game jersey, but he was dressed in regular clothing. Despite the fact that Kyrie Irving can now legally enter his team’s arena unvaccinated, it is still illegal for him to participate in the actual game. The vaccine mandate inhibiting him from joining his team never made any sense, and makes even less sense now. Fans were already mad about it, and now have grown tired NYC Mayor Eric Adams after another new development in the Kyrie Saga.
Details on Why Nets Were Fined $50K for Letting Kyrie Irving Enter Locker Room
Recently NBA announced that Nets were fined $50,000 for allowing Kyrie Irving to enter the team locker room after their win against Knicks. Apparently that still violates local health and safety protocols in New York City.
Kyrie Irving is allowed to enter Barclays arena, but isn’t allowed in any workplace environment. The Nets locker room is still considered a workplace environment, so the law was broken when Kyrie entered Nets locker room. It should be noted that the Nets were fined, and not Kyrie.

Social Media Criticizes NYC Mayor Eric Adams After Nets Fined $50,000 for Letting Kyrie Irving Enter Locker Room
After hearing about Nets getting fined for letting Kyrie Irving in their locker room, social media reacted by criticizing NYC Mayor Eric Adams. Since you can no longer say this about keeping people safe, most people think Eric Adams is using Kyrie Irving to prove a point that no one is above the law. Many people now agree that this is an optics issue, rather than a health issue.

Some people are still defending New York’s ridiculous vaccine mandate by saying millionaires shouldn’t be exempted, but therein lies the problem. The average person in NY had no choice but to get vaccinated, because losing their job was not an option. However, a millionaire like Kyrie can risk losing their job, so they are ones that would need to stand up against unjust laws.

Since the vaccine mandates started many people questioned the validity of their purpose. The basis of most anti-vaccine mandate rhetoric was the fact that vaccines don’t stop the spread of COVID, and in some cases seem to make it spread even more.
Now NYC is making fool of themselves by allowing Kyrie to enter the arena, but not play in games. In essence they are proving their vaccine mandates were a sham to create an illusion of safety all along.
