Cryptocurrency is all the rage these days, and another huge breakthrough just happened in the sports world. According to reports Kansas City Chiefs NFL player Sean Culkin will be getting paid in Bitcoin cryptocurrency next season.
Sean Culkin is converting his NFL salary to bitcoin on the fly using an interesting process. Sean Culkin makes $920,000 a year, which will be paid out weekly and then converted into bitcoin using the Strike app, which allows you to make payments with bitcoin by using your bank account or debit card.

It may seem like a risky move, but Sean Culkin believes cash money is more risky than bitcoin. Reports say he believes converting his salary to bitcoin will protect its purchasing power over time, a theory that still isn’t technically proven. If Bitcoin ever plunges he would end up losing a lot of money, but he’s probably prepared for that possibility.
It’s safe to say you won’t see many other athletes doing the same thing just yet. Sean Culkin is a brave man financially to make this bold move.
