CTE Conspiracy Theory Sergio Brown Murdered His Mother and Escaped to Mexico Trends After His Reaction Video to Her Dead Body Being Found
Former NFL player Sergio Brown, who has been missing since his mother’s dead body was found near a creek behind her home in Maywood, Illinois, on Saturday, posted a video on social media on Monday, claiming that he had nothing to do with her death and that he was in Mexico. The video, sparked a conspiracy theory among some online users who believe that Sergio Brown was the one killed his mother, and fled to Mexico to avoid arrest.
How Sergio Brown Reacted to His Mother’s Dead Body Being Found
In the video, Brown appeared to be in some type of tropical enclosure with a Mexican flag in the background. He seemed to convey that he was surprised by the news that his mother’s dead body was found, and claimed that he had nothing to do with what happened to her. He called the rumors and allegations that he was involved in her death “fake news” repeatedly.
He also said that the FBI had come to his house and kidnapped him twice, but he did not explain why or how he escaped. He seemed to insinuate that the FBI might have something to do with his mother’s death, but never directly said it. Based on the footage he might want people to believe that he’s in Mexico for his own safety, but not to avoid being arrested for his mother’s murder.
Why Conspiracy Theorists Think It’s Possible the Sergio Brown Murdered His Mother in a CTE Induced Fit of Rage Then Escaped to Mexico
The video raised many questions and suspicions among some social media users, who pointed out several inconsistencies and red flags in Brown’s story. Some feel these inconsistencies could be related to CTE damage from his NFL days. Some users noted that Brown did not show any signs of grief or emotion in the video, and that he seemed a bit to lackadaisical for a person who just learned their mom was murdered.
Others wondered why Brown did not contact his family or the police after his mother’s death, and why he chose to go to Mexico instead of staying in the United States.
In addition there was a moment of rage at the end of the video that people speculate could be a sign of mental imbalance, since there was an abrupt change of emotion, along with the other seemingly crazy things he said. Some conspiracy theorists speculated that Sergio Brown has CTE, and murdered his mother in a fit of rage or madness that was a side effect of it.
The Maywood Police Department has not confirmed or denied any of the rumors or theories about Brown’s involvement in his mother’s death. The department said in a statement on Saturday that it was conducting a homicide investigation, and that it was still trying to locate Brown. The department urged anyone with information to contact their anonymous tip line.
Brown, 35, played for Notre Dame before signing with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2010. He played seven seasons in the NFL as a member of the Patriots, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills.
He graduated from Proviso East High School in Maywood and earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Miami in 2016. His mother, Myrtle Brown, 73, died from multiple injuries related to an assault, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
