20,000 tons of diesel fuel leaked into Ambarnaya and Daldykan rivers in Siberia, causing Russia to declarer state of emergency. The plant where the fuel tanks ruptured was located in Norilsk above the arctic circle. It is one of the largest fuel spills in Russia’s history, and is already considered a major federal problem.


Viral pictures showed the a Ambarnaya and Daldykan rivers completely red with diesel fuel flowing through them. We included a comparison picture so you can see how clear the water was in these rivers before the 20,000 tons diesel from Norilsk fuel tank started leaking.
Scientists say it will take decades for the Russia to recover from this ecological disaster.
